Liquid Spirit Bronze Bowl Making Course.

Create your own bronze vessel from start to finish — in the heart of a working foundry.

 This immersive three-day course gives you the rare opportunity to learn the ancient art of lost-wax casting, guided by professional sculptor and foundryman Neil Lemaire. You’ll design, cast, and finish your own unique bronze bowl, using the same techniques Neil uses in his studio practice.

What’s Included

• Day 1: Waxwork & Ceramic ShelL
• Shape and refine your wax bowl.
• Learn how ceramic shell moulds are built.
• Apply your first and second shell coats.
• Day 2 (after a 5-day break while your shells are completed): Bronze Pour
• Watch your wax vessel transform into solid bronze.
• Participate in the dramatic bronze pour.
• Knock out and jet wash your casting.
• Begin chasing and fettling the raw metal.
• Day 3: Finishing & Patination
• Complete the metalwork: grinding, sanding, and polishing.
• Apply professional patinas to bring your bronze alive with colour.
• Leave with your finished bowl — a true heirloom object.

  • Duration: 3 days (spread over 2 weekends, with a 5-day interval for shell building).

  • Group size: Very small (maximum 3 participants) for personalised instruction.
  • All materials, safety gear, and refreshments provided.
  • ⚠️ Please note:  All of my courses are practical, hands-on experiences. A basic level of physical fitness and capability is required — you’ll be standing for periods of time, working with tools, and handling materials under guidance.
